My full name is Allen Wayne Culp and I was born on December 14, 1974.  I married my wife, Barbara, in 2000 and we were blessed with our first daughter, Elizabeth, in 2003 and our second daughter, Sarah, in 2008.

I graduated twice from the University of Washington (Seattle, WA), where I obtained a Bachelor of Science in Cellular and Molecular Biology degree and a Master in Teaching degree.  In 2006 and 2016, I attained the prestigious certification of National Board Teacher.

I have been at Washington High School (Tacoma, WA) since 2000.  I teach Biology, Pre-AP Biology, and AP Biology, as well as serve as a Scholarship Committee Member.  I am the head coach for Cross Country and Track & Field, as well as the monitor of the Bible Study Club.  I also mentor teachers from the University of Washington, Pacific Lutheran University, and the Franklin Pierce School District.

I was saved and baptized on November 17, 2002 at Lakewood Baptist Temple, where I am still a member.  I am currently serving as the director of the Junior Church and Kids for Christ programs, as well as the games leader for Vacation Bible School.

I love doing all active sports, especially running, softball, and basketball, because of the competition and exercise.  I also enjoy doing home renovation projects, working on cars, and cooking.  Naturally, I like to relax every once in a while and watch a movie or a TV show.

My favorite foods are pizza, fajitas, almost all fruits and vegetables, and granola mixes.  Of course, I also enjoy ice cream and dark chocolate candy.

My favorite number is 11, because it reminds me to always strive for perfection (1st place) in everything.  As a result, I have coined the quote “To be or not to be, it is up to you!” with my students and athletes.

My favorite color is black, because I think that it represents simplicity and toughness.  In fact, I have a black 1981 Ford Mustang Coupe, which was published in two different magazines after I customized it.  However, I also have an affinity for purple and gold since I am a devoted UW fan.  Consequently, I use to have a Siberian Husky named Avalanche (aka Avy).  RIP J
